evolution and Judaism - how to answer my son
- ט"ו אדר א' התשע"ו
שאלה
My son told some children in his class that we are descended from monkeys, and they yelled at him that this is what the christians think. I later discussed with my son this topic at length, explaining that we do not know how Hashem exactly makes His world. My son is very inquisitive and I feel i need to give him a more thorough study on how Judaism considers evolution. Please help. Thank you, Doron

Hello, Evolution is a theory that contains some facts, but also alot of unproven hypotheses . please see:

Judaism is not opposed to science . If suddenly it was revealed that evolution was a fact , then we would explain that God created life through directed evolution . As explained by Rabbi Eliyahu Dessler , Abraham Isaac Kook.
