התנ"ך, הספר שהטביע את חותמו יותר מכל דבר אחר על התרבות האנושית. אין חולק על העובדה שאלמלא היתה תורת ישראל, היה סולם הערכים האוניברסלי בתחומי הצדק והמוסר נראה שונה לחלוטין. אולם בכל הנוגע למדע ומחקר נתפשה התורה במשך אלפי שנים אצל הבלתי מאמינים בה כבלתי שייכת ואפילו נוגדת את הקיים.
